(jokes aside) those are great ideas Esther! This summer, i bought strawberries and 10 different veg seedlings (I was late to start growing them from seeds)and did get quite a good harvest of tomatoes, strawberries, runner beans,potatoes, rhubarb and peas. It was a big battle with slugs and we lost the battle of growing carrots, luttice and pumpkins (all got eaten... and the are impossible to grow ). But tomatoes, runner beans, peas, potatoes, strawberries and Rhurbarb are so so easy to grow...(honestly)
p.s big families rock (there is never a boring day and they learn to share, to value things and to improvise)

Especially the plaintive call of 'Mummy can I come downstairs yet?' from the top of the stairs ... Oh no, I'd forgot about sending a small person to their room again, (or indeed WHY !)

my method = I walk away To the bathroom to heave) someone else cleans child, someone else cleans the contaminated zone and when all is done I reappear.
When no one else is available there is only one option, I deal with it, but it takes ages because of the frequent mum's-being-sick breaks!!
Hat's off to you cos you made me laugh at vomit related information!!!!! :D
ps -= how did she know that the poo was entire!!!!!!!!!

you wouldn't want to live with the masai people. They drink cow blood. But they are vegetarians and they don't kill or eat their cows. They spear the cows' jagular vein and let it bleed in a bowl. Mix the blood with milk and drink it straight.

You are so right!! Another one I used to get, at the end of EVERY school holiday was
"I bet you can't wait for them to go back to school, it must be a nightmare!" I would always reply, with absolute truth,
"No, I love the holidays and hate it when they go back. I had lots of children because I wanted them. I love them and enjoy their company, they are lovely people and I miss them when they are at school."
This took the breath away from the questioners (usually cashiers in supermarkets!), who would then say that I was the first mum who had ever said that to them! How tragic and bitterly sad is that ?
I would also like to be the bringer of joy to you today, dear one...... (once past the blip that is 14-17 !!!) It just gets better. My 4 are now grown up and we consider them, and the 2 in-law ones as well, our best of friends. They are the joy and delight of our lives, and they've even started giving us little babies of their own :) Many, many, many more may they be, and long, long, long may it last. :) xxxxx

I'm totally with you on this. People often comment about the Scholes' as if you're a huge massive clan. If I say I'm babysitting your boys people ask if I can really manage it on my own. They obviously don't know your wonderful somewhat-slightly-mischievious-but-in-a-cute-way little bunch of men the way we do! You have four of the most amazing affectionate boys I've ever known. You're very good at making them the best :)

re the biting - My sister's tantrums consisted of standing in a doorway emitting a high pitched, unbroken scream accompanied by stamping from foot to foot whilst her wrist was held firmly between her teeth. Drawing blood was not unheard of! And some cousins were frightened to within an inch of their lives when witnessing the rage for the first time!
